The Project Management Institute (PMI) was established in
1969. Since then, it has grown to be the world’s largest
and most influential project management association, and now
has around 250,000 members globally
PMI New Zealand Chapter (PMINZ) was officially granted its charter to operate in New Zealand on March 12, 1994 and has experienced exceptional growth since then; with about 1,500 members it is currently one of the largest chapters outside North America. PMINZ has active branches operating in Christchurch (including Nelson group), Wellington (including Hawke's Bay Group) and Auckland (including Hamilton group), and has regularly received international PMI awards in recognition of its success.
PMINZ is governed by a Constitution
and Bylaws.
PMINZ Operates using PMINZ Board Approved policies

STRATEGIC PLAN 2007
This document outlines the 2007 Strategic Direction for the Project Management Institute of New Zealand (PMINZ), as agreed at the Strategic Planning Weekend 2007.
This has been formatted into a 1 page document for improved reference and reading. In particular it is now easy for you to review the work programme we have identified for 2007.
I see this year as being one of consolidating our existing strengths and current activities whilst building the capability to provide more services for our membership.
The work plan therefore includes a number of 'recruitment' projects for more Board members. These new recruits will be charged with developing their portfolios and we want them to identify what they can implement this year.
The Programme of Work includes annual work activities that we must do - particularly in the governance area - as well as new projects. These projects have been prioritised, although this is not shown on the Work Programme.
Some of those higher priority projects which will be of interest include the Web Development; PMINZ identity, branding and brochure and marketing materials; Project of the Year 2007/8 and the mentoring programme.
Whilst there are more projects listed on the programme and we tossed around many more ideas at the annual strategic planning weekend we recognised that we just don't have the resources at the moment and we don't want to 'over promise and under deliver'.
