Project Management Institute (PMI), with more than 240,000 members in over 160 countries, is the world's foremost advocate for the project management profession. A vital and forward-thinking organization, PMI is comprised of 247 chartered chapters, 16 new potential chapters, 30 Specific Interests Groups (SIGs) and two colleges.

PMI sets industry standards, conducts research and provides education, certification and professional exchange opportunities designed to strengthen and further establish the profession. PMI advances the careers of practitioners, while enhancing overall business and government performance, through documentation of return on investment.The Project Management Institute of New Zealand (PMINZ) is a chapter of PMI.

To join PMINZ, you must be a member of PMI. There are also a variety of Special Interest Groups.

The benefits of membership include access to a wide body of knowledge, numerous opportunities for professional development and significant discounts for PMP certification and attendance at events organised by PMI or it’s Chapters. Membership costs $USD 119 for PMI membership and $USD30 for PMINZ chapter membership. You may also want to join a Special Interest Group, that range in price from $10 to $20 USD.

Joining is easy and can be done online on the PMI web site. Complete the PMI membership application indicating membership of the New Zealand chapter and either pay online using a credit card, or you may print off the application form an post with your payment.

If you wish to renew your membership of both PMI and the NZ Chapter, it is possible to renew your membership online.

PMI provides PMINZ with updated membership details on a monthly basis. You do not need to send any information to PMINZ when applying or renewing your membership. However, you may want to make contact with your local Branch via email to notify them of a new member, so they can add you to their email distribution lists.
