Greg Balestrero

Greg Balestrero
brings more than 20 years experience
in executive-level association experience to the Project
Management Institute (PMI). An industrial engineer by training,
Balestrero
has extensive experience overseeing administrative, financial
and internal affairs for industrial associations. Most recently
he served as executive director of the Construction Specifications
Institute (CSI), an organisation for construction professionals
in non-residential building construction, based in Alexandria,
Virginia USA. He previously held the position
of Executive Director at the Institute of Industrial Engineers
(IIE).
As CEO, Balestrero provides leadership and expertise in
strategic management for the organisation and carries out
three primary
goals for PMI: to better serve the needs of its members,
promote new business through strategic partnerships and alliances,
and
enhance public awareness.
Balestrero is the current chair of
the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives
(GWSAE). He is also an active member and former president
of the Council
of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE).
Balestrero also is a member of the Committee of 100, of the
U.S. Chamber
of Commerce. He is a current member of the American Society
of Association Executives (ASAE); the Institute of Industrial
Engineers
(IIE); and the American Society
of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He was honoured with a fellowship
in the World Academy of Productivity Scientists and is an
honorary member of Alpha Pi Mu, an industrial engineering
honor society.
He earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering
from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is a US Army veteran.

Alastair Ferguson

Alastair’s down-to-earth,
no-nonsense approach stems from his dairy farming background. This experience
enabled him to become a rising star at Alfa Laval, a leading global provider
of fluid handling equipment and a major
player in New Zealand’s dairy industry. Alastair joined Alfa Laval
as an area sales manager based in Hamilton and in less than five years

Home and an entrepreneurial calling beckoned, so Alastair returned to New
Zealand to pursue business opportunities.
Alastair successfully developed a food distribution business, increasing
turnover by 321% in just two years. He then established and built up a
consulting business that
successfully developed, facilitated and implemented strategic and operational
business plans and performance management processes.
Following a family
health crisis, Alastair wrote and self published the bestselling book – Stand
Up and Shout – Kiwi Success Unplugged! Through
his company, Stand Up and Shout Ltd, he now inspires people to live their
dreams. The purpose of the organisation is to help individuals become more

Rob Hamill

An extraordinary mental and physical effort – something very, very
special” is how Sir Peter Blake has described Rob Hamill and the
late Phil Stubbs’ incredible
achievement in winning the Atlantic Rowing Race.
Marathon rowing champion Rob Hamill has been a New Zealand International
rowing representative for 16 years. Rob’s numerous rowing achievements
include World Championship silver, Commonwealth gold and a world record
on the indoor rowing machine.
Rob represented New Zealand at the 1996 Atlanta
Olympics and recently published ‘
The Naked Rower’ on how he and Phil Stubbs captured headlines around
the world winning the grueling Atlantic Rowing Race in 41 days.
Rob has
since led successful defences of the title with the Telecom Challenge two
- boat campaign in 2001 and the Holiday Shoppe Challenge in 2003. Rob is
now doing Project Management of his own in the form of sports events, the
first being the annual ‘Great Race’ on the Waikato River between
Waikato and Oxford/Cambridge (UK) University rowing eights. His next project
is organising a rowing race across the Tasman Sea scheduled for 2006.’
Rob's presentation on the trials and tribulations of ocean rowing and project
management is humorous yet motivational.
