Sustainability is irrelevant! Green project management is underpinned by business leadership and we cannot afford to wait for politicians and officials to agree a way forward on climate change. A company’s Sustainability strategy is based around good project management, change management and process improvement.
There has been a lot written about Sustainability, mainly in the context of Climate Change. This writing ranges from advocating a return to a pre-literate Stone Age hunter gather society to a ‘hair-shirt’ return to the Middle Ages and on to a view that there is absolutely nothing to worry about. The debate is clouded by whether one is a climate change believer or a climate change sceptic.
Gordon will be presenting his views on Sustainability and Green Project Management and he will let us know that regardless of your attitude to climate change, Sustainability is good business and should be embraced wholeheartedly by all kinds of organisations. Project Managers can become green project managers and change agents.
Gordon will provide us with some background on why Sustainability and green PM can be viewed on three levels:
• lip service,
• transactional, and
• transformational
