You are warmly invited to the June 2013 PMINZ Branch Monthly Meeting on Tuesday 18^thJune at Elevate Bar and Function Centre, 2 Colombo Street, Christchurch (see Map), at 5:30pm for 6pm (sharp) start.

We are looking for a member who would like to write-up the presentation for the monthly PMINZ e-news magazine in the form of a summary report (150 - 200 words) – PMPs can claim one PDU under Category D. If you are interested please reply to Paul Gains.

Topic: How to Build Your Own Project Management Methodology.

Have you tried an off-the-shelf project management methodology with little success? Do you know you could be managing your projects better if you had a project management methodology that actually works for you? Are you stumped about how to start the process of building your own tailored project management methodology? This practical interactive session will introduce you to the basics of building your own methodology including processes, tools, techniques and templates. If you already have a working tailored methodology you will be encouraged to contribute and share ideas with everyone else.

About the Speaker:

Sean Whitaker is an experienced project manager, author, and trainer who has successfully delivered projects in the construction, telecommunications, and IT industries, making him a truly professional project manager. He began his project management career as a residential land developer, then moved on to the construction of wireless telecommunications networks, and then mission-critical hardware and software projects for large infrastructure organizations before returning to the construction industry. What began as a part-time teaching opportunity has now become his full time occupation as teacher, trainer, speaker, and author about project management. He holds the Project Management Professional (PMP^®) credential in addition to Bachelor of Arts (BA), Master of Science (MSc), and Master of Business Administration (MBA) academic degrees. He regularly attends and presents at national and international project management conferences, and he currently provides project management training and teaching across a wide range of industries and at all levels. He gives back to the profession via his regular blogs and mentoring and is the author of several project management books, including The Practically Perfect Project Manager [2012], PMP® Training Kit [2013], & PMP® Rapid Review[2013] He has been a volunteer leader with the Project Management Institute for many years and is the Immediate Past President of PMINZ and is currently a member of the PMI Board Volunteer Advisory Committee (BVAC)
